Indigo Byte Systems Updates Dr.Explain 4.2 to Produce Better Help Systems
The new version of the popular software documentation tool produces top-notch online manuals and help files, provides powerful import & editing capabilities for better user assistance.
May 15, 2011 – Indigo Byte Systems today announces Dr.Explain 4.2, which brings more features and enhancements to the popular software documentation tool. Among many enhancements Dr.Explain 4.2 features improved content editor, better management of text styles and enhanced import of HTML, CHM, RTF & DOC (DOCX) formats. The latest version supports 9 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Sweden, Russian, and Dutch. It‘s available as a free download from the Dr.Explain’s website: http://www.drexplain.com
Dr.Explain offers an entirely new approach to documenting interfaces of desktop and web applications, making it easier than ever to accomplish this labor-intensive task. Leveraging Indigo Byte’s Intelligent Screen Capture and Automated Analysis Technology (ISCAAT), Dr.Explain is the only program in its class to document software automatically. When the user needs to create a user manual, there’s no need to spend days on taking screenshots and adding annotations. Just run Dr.Explain and watch it intelligently analyze the application interface, capture screenshots of controls, such as buttons, menus, boxes, lists, and then produce numbered callouts for each element – all completely automatically. As a result, users only have to enter some descriptive text into annotations, and then compile the project. The program can create a user manual in HTML, CHM, RTF, or PDF.
There is also a wide range of other distinctive features. For example, developers can quickly update their user manuals as new versions and updates are released. For this, Dr.Explain replaces individual screenshots, while leaving all meta data such as callouts, annotations and descriptions as they are, so there’s no need to recreate the whole project from the ground up. Also the program creates manuals in various formats from a single source, supports Help ID for creating context-sensitive help systems in applications, has the ability to embed search and indexing features to online manuals and create table of contents and navigation through chapters automatically.
